Jay Moritz
2025–2026 Maryland Climate corps member
As a Maryland Climate Corps member, Jay will work with ShoreRivers’ Education Department to support our environmental education programs, Green Center and School programs, and advance our outreach to school communities and student families.
Jay is originally from Rochester, New York, but moved to St. Michaels, Maryland, during her childhood. Growing up on the Eastern Shore, much of her education was centered on the Chesapeake Bay, its waterways, and the reasons why they are so important to our community and way of life. Because of this, Jay says she’s always carried with her a strong understanding of how essential it is to preserve the Bay and to take preventative actions that keep it healthy for future generations.
In high school, Jay had the opportunity to work for the Talbot Soil Conservation District, gaining hands-on experience in the field and seeing firsthand how erosion and sediment control plans are applied to farmland and coastlines. As a 2025–26 Maryland Climate Corps member, she is excited to continue advocating for the health of the Bay while helping others understand and appreciate its importance.
The Maryland Climate Corps — an initiative of the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation that is administered by the Chesapeake Bay Trust — is designed to support young adults by growing their professional goals, fostering career exploration, and developing new skills. Through this program, participants are encouraged to identify where their talents and passion intersect, guiding fellows toward a career that positively impacts the environment and their communities.
