Come hike and explore the shoreline of Eastern Neck Island at the mouth of the Chester River! Experienced outdoor environmental educator Heidi Usilton will lead a family-friendly hike and discovery program along the beaches and trails, teaching the group about the plants and animals that are part of one of the bay’s most beautiful tributaries. Fostering a love and understanding of nature in young generations is critical for development and the future health of our land and waterways. This program is all about experiencing the outdoors and letting curiosity, imagination, and nature be the teachers. Heidi will bring nets and buckets so participants can explore the flora and fauna of the Chester River, and will help the students learn to identify different species. This is the perfect program for parents and children to experience the outdoors together. Please bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, bug repellent, small snack, and change of clothes in a small bag that each child can carry- backpacks are best! They should be wearing lace-on shoes that can get wet and muddy- not boots. This expedition is best for children ages 5 to 10, but adults are also welcome!
