Join Matt Pluta, Choptank Riverkeeper, for a Paddle Around Town launching from the heart of Denton. This town-based expedition offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the upper Choptank River in spring while exploring the important connections between our town centers and the health of our rivers.

Paddling through this peaceful stretch of river, participants will learn how land use decisions in our communities-from streets and storm drains to green spaces-shape river access, habitat, and water quality. Along the way, Matt will share insights about restoration efforts, river stewardship, and how healthy towns and healthy rivers go hand in hand.

Following the paddle, participants are invited to continue the experience at nearby Edentown Brewing Company, where your registration includes a craft beverage (non-alcoholic options available) and light fare. Gather with the Riverkeeper and fellow paddlers for inspiring conversation about our thriving rivers and why our communities cherish them.

Expedition Registration & Cancelation Policy

ShoreRivers Expeditions are made possible this year through generous support from the National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways Program and the Chesapeake Bay Trust, allowing us to offer these experiences free of charge to our community. As part of this shared investment in accessible, hands-on environmental education, we ask participants to register with intention and a commitment to attend.

Each expedition has limited capacity to ensure a meaningful experience. When spots go unused due to last-minute cancelations or no-shows, it impacts our staff, partners, and fellow community members who may have been eager to participate.
