Expedition: Cambridge Cuisine & Storytelling

  • The Packing House 411 Dorchester Avenue Cambridge, MD 21613 (map)

Join ShoreRivers at The Packing House on Friday, October 2, at 6pm, for an unforgettable Chesapeake expedition that brings together history, flavor, and community in one immersive experience.

Set within the character-filled walls of this historic space, the evening invites guests to explore the rich story of the Chesapeake Bay’s most iconic harvests — oysters, rockfish, and bluefish — and the vital role they’ve played in shaping our region’s culture, economy, and way of life.

Throughout the night, you’ll hear from educators and regional experts as they share the fascinating history and ecological importance of oysters — from their once-abundant presence in the Bay to their critical role in water filtration and restoration efforts today.

The culinary experience is just as compelling. Two talented regional chefs will showcase the flavors of the Shore with a curated tasting menu featuring:

  • Fresh oysters prepared two ways, accompanied by a live shucking demonstration

  • A vibrant, seasonal ceviche highlighting the day’s freshest catch

  • Two exceptional fish dips crafted from local rockfish and bluefish

This thoughtfully designed evening blends storytelling, sustainability, and cuisine offering guests a deeper connection to the Chesapeake’s heritage while celebrating the bounty of its waters.

Come hungry, leave inspired, and experience the Chesapeake like never before.

Expedition Registration & Cancelation Policy

ShoreRivers Expeditions are made possible this year through generous support from the National Park Service Chesapeake Gateways Program and the Chesapeake Bay Trust, allowing us to offer these experiences free of charge to our community. As part of this shared investment in accessible, hands-on environmental education, we ask participants to register with intention and a commitment to attend.

Each expedition has limited capacity to ensure a meaningful experience. When spots go unused due to last-minute cancelations or no-shows, it impacts our staff, partners, and fellow community members who may have been eager to participate.
