From January through April your Riverkeepers are active in Annapolis — writing bills, testifying, and meeting with state representatives on legislative issues that affect our Eastern Shore waterways. Our efforts are supported by ShoreRivers' Advocacy Volunteers, who — in sharing their voices and their stories — make a tremendous impact on our legislators as they get to hear directly from their communities and constituents.
If you are interested in joining (or returning to!) our Advocacy Volunteer program this legislative session, ShoreRivers invites you to a volunteer training on Tuesday, December 9, at 6pm (held virtually via Zoom). Even if you have previously been an advocacy volunteer, we request that you still attend this initial training. This will be the first in a series of trainings, events, and action opportunities, where your Riverkeepers will present on the basics of the Maryland General Assembly, discuss the state of the budget, and share the many ways that you can get involved.
Click here to register for the December 9 virtual training. An email will be sent out in early December with links and final details. If you have any questions, please contact Maegan White at mwhite@shorerivers.org.
