Born and raised in Salisbury, MD, Emily studied the Chesapeake Bay from a young age and graduated from Washington College in 2015 with a degree in Environmental Studies and a concentration in Chesapeake Bay Regional Studies. Emily joined the Chester River team as a Chesapeake Conservation Corps Volunteer and was hired as the Watershed Coordinator in 2016. As a certified Maryland Master Naturalist, Emily is able to share her enthusiasm for all things outdoors with fellow Eastern Shore residents.
As the watershed manager for the Chester and Sassafras rivers, Emily manages our Chester Tester citizen scientists and Marylanders Grow Oysters volunteers in the upper shore region. She also manages a number of other outreach and restoration initiatives.When she’s not on the Riverkeeper boat monitoring water quality, Emily enjoys hiking, paddling, baking, and knitting.
